"When I look into the eyes of an animal I do not see an animal.
I see a living being.
I see a friend.
I see a soul."

Anyone who knows me knows that I am an animal lover to my core.  I was always the kid that wanted every pet.  I saved every caterpillar and still do to this day! I'm the weird forty something getting out of her car to rescue a really pissed off snapping turtle.  YUP, that's me!  I can't imagine my life without my pets, they mean the world to me and our relationship is based on pure unconditional love.  I may be grumpy or sad and they still show up every time with a goofy smile on their face only wanting one thing, LOVE.  As a pet owner I have learned how to love, to forgive, to be patient, and how to clean lots of poop!  Our animals can teach us to live for today and to be grateful for what we have.  My pets have been there for my happiest of times and my darkest days of battling cancer.  I could never repay them for all that they have given to me, but I can pay it forward and help less fortunate animals.  I feel extremely grateful that I can combine my love of animals and art and give people a beautiful reminder of one of their best friends.
My goal is to capture the true soul of your pet.  Drawings are created using lightfast colored pencils and acid free archival paper to ensure that your artwork lasts a lifetime. Commission subjects include dogs, cats, birds and all types of wildlife.

Photographing your pet
Photographing your furball can be super tricky and it can take some time.  Your camera doesn't have to be super fancy,  it just needs to be able to capture close up details of your pet.  A high quality photo makes all the differnce as it allows me to capture all the little details that make them special.

Here are some tips for photographing:
  • Photograph your pet in good lighting.  Outside and out of direct sunlight is best or in a room with lots of sunlight.  This gives the most accurate coloring of your pet.
  • Get on your pets level (eye level) so that you get a good view of their eyes and good detail of their features.  I know this can be difficult as they usually think you want to play!
  • Don't use a zoom as it often results in lost details.
  • Decide the pose and whether or not you would like their collar in the drawing.
  • I believe that your pets true character comes out when they are completely relaxed so hang in there and give your shoot enough time for them to realize you're not playing a game!  I'm not above using treats as an incentive!
  • When you are requesting a portrait of a deceased loved one or a surprise gift it may be difficult to find a good picture.  Feel free to send me some photos and I can help you choose.
