This painting was based on a photograph of a barred owl that I took one morning on the C&O canal. I sat and watched her as she watched me for what felt like hours. She just stared at me and it felt like I was in another world. I wonder what she was thinking. I will never forget her. It was one of the most amazing encounters and now my favorite painting.
